A hot tub is a water-filled wood, plastic or ceramic container in which up to 12 people can lounge. This special piece of bathing equipment usually has a heater for warming the water from 80 to 106 degrees Fahrenheit and may also have jets to bubble the water, which may not be drained out after every use. An average- size hot tub has a capacity of 200 to 400 gallons and normally is equipped with an electric pump. Hot Tubs are also referred to as Spas or Jacuzzis and in plain -speak may be compared to the homely water heater: a large vessel of water kept hot till the need arises to use it. However, it is not as frequently used as domestic hot water, so it is not necessary to heat it for the full day.

A fully-insulated tub will maintain its temperature longer, with less supplemental heat required to maintain the desired temperature and there are insulation covers in the market today which go a long way to ensure that you need not get hot under your collar trying to keep your hot tub warm.
